When I was walking in the medina only one Arab boy asked me in English whether I need a guide. When I answered him no, he said ok, no problem and went away.

As I heard Tetouan long had a highly deserved reputation of being the least tourist friendly of all Moroccan cities despite its architectural charm.
But just like in another important tourist destination, Marrakech, police has hit hard on "unfriendly guiding". What's that? Imagine men who follow you around (guiding) trying to get you into their cousin's art shop (unfriendly), and charging hefty tipping for simply following you around.

    ~Bakers Dozen~

  • I am not sure if this a custom in Morocco only, or many Arab or poorer countries.

The dough for bread is made in the home, and then the dough is taken to the bakers, who then cooks the bread for them. Then the bread is picked up and taken home.

Apparently this is a daily occurrance.
