This sweetened Almond flavored milk brought back memories of childhood trips to India. The only difference the milk is now served in juice-type boxes, instead of the glass milk bottles I remember. The milk still tasted great, but I missed the glass bottle. Leave a Comment

Desighned by Le Corbusier, the famous modern architect, the administrative centre of the city is an absolute must for those who are interested in architecture. Security was a bit strict when i visited the place, the reason we were allowed in was because we were students of architecture and we had a letter from a New Delhi University.. Still, it' s definately worth a try! Leave a Comment

An amazing mounment to the joys of immagination!! Located on the Northen bounds of the city this fatasyland is the culmination of decades work by an amazing man. Mr Nek Chand worked for the Government of Chandigarh in the early days of the city's development and had a love of creating quirky and fun sculptural pieces out of everyday junk. Over decades Chand gathered broken china, bangles, bakelite electrical connectors, clay chai pots etc..... and put together the most wonderful array of human, animal and fantasy sculputres. Chand's fantasyland grew like to early city of Chandigarh, but about 30 years ago it was discovered and found to be on government land and was faced with the grim prospect of demolition but public uproar at the city's new found treasure kept it safe and now it is one fo the premier attractions of the city! You could spend half the day here, wandering the pathways, past an impressive waterfall, through an archway and around the corner to a beautiful wall of coloured china, up some stairs and through a herd of migrating giraffes and then into a vale of human figures - resplendant with expressions and actions!! Mr Chand still works there - Narinder was to organise for us to meet but our schedule was tight and missed the opportunity to meet the master!) and when we went there was a group of volunteers from England who were working on keeping the garden beautiful (on behalf of the Nek Chand Foundation!!) I did a google search and found a website too! Check it out at Nek Chand Foundation Entry is Rs. 5 for adults or Rs. 3 for children. Leave a Comment Directions: Just north of sector 4 - turn off Uttar Marg.

Of course, one of the main things you have to see in Chandigarh is Rock garden. I would say that it reminded me of Gaudy park in Barcelona, there was some similar things in all this. But if about Chandigarh, then idea of the park cames from some policeman, who generated idea to use household waste to make some art. I cannot tell you how big is the garden exactly, but it is quiet big. There u can see walls made from pieces of broken dishes, cups, sinks and even different electronic equipment. My favorite was animals and people figures which were made from broken bangles. Quiet good idea! Leave a Comment
