    Opened in 1968, this museum and art gallery is located next door to the City Museum in sector 10. It houses magnificent Gandhara period stone sculptures, prehistoric fossils and artifacts, Hindu statues, cloth and miniature paintings, decorative arts, coins and modern art. More pictures can be found in one of my travelogues.

    Open: Tues-Sun 10am-4.30pm. Closed Mondays. Admission: Rs2 for all visitors, Rs5 for still camera.

    This man-made 3km long lake was created in 1958 with the intension of the creators of Chandigarh to offer it to the citizens so that they can be at one with the lake and its environments and its tranquility shall be guaranteed by banning noises (which should be done countrywide!).

    Paddle boats are available to hire for Rs30 (34p) for 30 mins, so I decided to take one out and have a bit of fun. So I paid in the booth and walked down to the waters edge and donned a red life jacket and got into one. I paddled out to the opposite shore and was receiving a lot of looks from the locals especially girls who I waved to and smiled at and they did the same and giggled!
