You can't leave Delhi without paying tribute to its great sights, right? Of course not, especially since most of them offer a great escape from the noise, the pollution and the crowds. India Gate, the symbol of india's independence. Situated in the center of a large, open green park and facing the presidential palace is like Paris' Arc du Triomph. Humayun's Tomb, the mughal king's resting place. Surrounded by magnificent and peaceful gardens, the only thing that breaks the quiet is the sound of the crows and the eagles flying above. Red Fort, a theater of the old glory and the majestic parades. Try to imagine this place when it was still inhabited by powerful maharajas and their mighty elephants. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the gardens. And lot more... Leave a Comment

In Aurangzeb's time, they're selling horses here. Leave a Comment Address: Off Netaji Subhash Marg, Old DelhiDirections: Nearby Red Fort, Lahore Gate and Chandni Chowk.

Is on the streets that you will start to feel the real smell of India, and Old Delhi is the greatest place where to start!. The streets are simply black, durty, fullfilled of people and cowes wherever, people that calls you billion times, altough you do not watch them...children that simply walk up and down to those streets, chai seller on the streets, biri smokers on the streets.... This is India... All is done on the street, and if you do not watch it, or at least try to understand it, I guess you are losing something on the way!. Leave a Comment

In the opposite of the streets of Old Delhi, very small and crowded, Connaught Palace is the touristic and shopping center in New Delhi, with big streets, not so crowded and with less traffic and pollusion. You will immediately detect the difference beetween the two parts of the city. Leave a Comment

Qutab Minar is the highest stone tower in India - and it's only one of the sights to be seen in the Qutab Minar complex. This "pillar" is 72.5 metres in height, and 14.32 metres in diameter at the base, and 2.75 metres at the top. It's made entirely of white marble and red sandstone - and laid out in 5 storeys. The marvel of this pillar, however, it's not its size but the fine carvings that cover it: they are all verses from the Quran. it is believed that the first city of Delhi was built near here Leave a Comment Directions: in the Mehrauli area, in the southern part of the city.

Raj Ghat is a green peaceful place to visit in Delhi. It's Mahatma Ghandi's final resting place and it's inside a quiet well-looked after little park. The shrine itself is very simple: a raised square platform made of black marble and covered in flowers, with a perpetual flame burning at one end of it. When I was there, one day after Indedpendence day (15 August) the number of flowers formed a carpet over the shrine. Entrance to the memorial is free, but you must take off your shoes to go near the shrine. At the entrance there are guarded shelves where you can leave your shoes. Leave a Comment Directions: about 2 kilometres from the India Gate

When you visit this complex, don't forget to explore the areas to the left and right of the main walkway leading toward the central Humayun Tomb complex. The buildings in these quadrants, dedicated to lesser nobles and officers, are fascinating as well. This photo is the Isa Khan tomb and mosque. Leave a Comment
