 | Cavtat Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 14 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (14) This wasn't an accidental discovery. I red about Konoba Galija in one magazine. Knowing things in advance might result in high expectations and disappointment. This one was so much better than I expected. Well, they didn't have any sea urchin caviar, so I couldn't order Orgasm plate (they serve only absolutely fresh ingredients) but trying sea-eggs was too close to hedonism as well! It looks like a lump of seaweed, cut in half and served raw - yellow liquid to be eaten with spoon from soft purple shell. Gentle bitter aroma of sea touches your tongue and floats up to your nostrils enough to enhance the experience. *We noticed the tip of a large ship slowly entering the bay* My next course were prawns, grilled and touched with few drops of aromatic honey. Bees are grazing on rosemary, sage, lavender here. Wash your hands first, and eat with fingers. Lick your fingers clean afterwards. It's essential to the recipe, really. *The magnificent sailing ship was half-way in the bay* We ordered the wine of the house - recommended by the owner. Good restaurants usually have good wine of the house, it's one of the things they build their reputation on. This wine was excellent, playful and velvety with subtle floral scents. *We had to go observe the mooring of that ship, so we didn't get drunk and silly* Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Cavtat - CroatiaPhone: +385 /20 /478 566Directions: Main promenade, near Franciscan monastery

Restaurant Leut is standing in the center of Cavtat, on a small square. They have an outside terrace on the square as well as an inside dining room. They had several living (really moving) lobsters in front of their window. Each summer, we enjoy having a lobster dinner once. We had planned to have a quick meal and drive to Dubrovnik but we could not resist to a nice lobster that waved at us ! It was the first private restaurant in Cavtat and after more than 30 years, it is still run by Family Bobiċ. Leut is the name of the traditional fishing boat of Dalmatia. Other names are "liburna", "falkuċa" but I am not sure if they correspond to different shapes of boats or from different regions. A Leut is 7-12 m long and its width is 1/3 of its length. The old Leuts had 6 oars and a mast. They are still built with the same shape but are now engine powered.
They serve all the traditional Dalmatian seafood but we wanted only a light noon meal (haha !) and took only a salad and a grilled lobster, to share between both of us. And of course a bottle of white wine (that was not for us, that was for the lobster !). It was excellent ! This is a little cafe by the roadside. Fortunately, there are more people than cars on the road so it is a very pleasant place to eat lunch. There are about 8 small tables, each covered with an umbrella. The food is prepared in a little kiosk which doesn't look like it could be big enough to do much in. But the food is all simply prepared and very fresh. The staff have a little English and very good German (from what I could tell). And you really can't beat the view!
I love the calimari - it had a very light batter and had a generous helping of garlic butter over it. GF liked the mixed seafood salad plate. It had bits of different types of fish and some fresh vegetables and tomatoes. This was our favourite restaurant in Cavtat. Of course, we only found it on our last night there. The restaurant itself is up a narrow road, near the town hall. They open at 8 and during the summer, the tables are outside, closer to the harbour and sheltered by pine trees. The service was very good, our waitress had very good English and the menu was just that little bit more unusual than the other restaurants in the town. Another nice aspect was that the restaurant is right next to the town hall, where the local brass band was practicing. We had live music for part of the meal!
I got revenge on the sea urchins and had sea urchin soup! It was really delicious - I would love to have had seconds.:o) Theme: LocalPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: At the harbour.

I had seen the website for this restaurant and thought it would be interesting to try. We had a set meal for 230 kune each which included fish salad, mussels, squid ink risotto and a plate of grilled fish. For dessert, we had a bowl of fresh cherries. The very friendly waiter asked where we were from and brought us a glass of the local firewater - one glass was plenty! We ate here 2 nights and enjoyed it both times.
The squid ink risotto is quite popular with most restaurants in the area and at Leut it was really delicious. Theme: LocalPrice: US$31-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Right in the village centre.

I would normally eat at one of the many restaurants along the harbour promenade, where one can get a deasant meal for around 10 US$. This evening I wanted something special, and entered the Konoba Toranj. After having been ripped off with KN 140 for a light lunch in Dubrovnik, I had this delicious three course meal in Cavtat for KN 155, including a coke and a cup of coffee! There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and the ambience is very nice. They have this annoying custom of adding a charge for the couvert here, too, but by now I had gotten used to it, and it was "only" 8 kuna here, compared to 14 in Dubrovnik. The waiter was very enthusiastic, promoting their home made food. He even gave me a Croatia guide book in Norvegian, that another customer had left :-) I couldn't see any towr, though! The municipality is changing water pipes, causing the entrance to be partly blocked. Hopefully they are finished by now! (pic. 5)
Actually, it was a four course meal, I was given an appetizer on the house: a home made pate with tunafish as the main ingrediant. For a starter I chose Dalmatian Pršut, a special smoked ham (pic. 2) Main course: Grilled chicken, perfectly cooked, very tender, and nicely laid out on the plate together with vegetables (pic. 3) Dessert: Home made caramel pudding, yummi! Best coffees in Cavtat. No crowd (5 tables!), so no rush and personal owners' attention to every single visitor. Best place to be away from the crowd, and a nice view too. Restaurant Dalmacija is situated in the square in front of Villa Pattiera to which it belongs. We were only there for a lunchtime snack, but the service was very friendly and helpful, the food was very good and the atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasant. Leave a Comment

I passed this little cafe when I was hiking up to mausoleum hill, so I stop on my way down. It is very relaxing here, and the expresso and the view are worth the stop. The owner was telling me that she eventually plans to rent rooms to visitors. Theme: CoffeehousePrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: mausoleum hill

Ivan is a seafood restaurant located near the bus stop in Cavtat. It has a terrace by the sea and also a nice interior dining room. They offer plenty of seafood, some meats, and Croatian specialties. There is also a good selection of wines.
I had the seafood risotto, which was very good. It had mussels, clams, calamari, and pieces of fish. Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Tiha 5Phone: 020 478160
