Carpe Diem
I wish VT would allow us to upload short video clips. My limited prudish vocabulary lacks words to describe the sensuous party scene of Carpe Diem club, especially the artistic hip movements of those 3 guys in the middle of my picture.
As soon as heated bodies start returning from Paklini islands beaches in the early evening, this place is like a magnet, pulsing with beat and energy.

Dress code is very strict, the less the better.

Carpe Diem in Hvar, late
afternoon...

This is not a local only for the night. In my opinion, best time there is about 5-6 o'clock, when people return from beaches and stay here dancing before to going at home... it's incredible the number of people (expecially italians and croatians, but not only) who dance here at that time :)

If you prefere you can go to dance here also in the night, but it's quite different.
In the morning it's a bar where you can have breakfast.

Use just the Pareu (you can buy it in Hvar if you don't have) and a swimming costum if you want to be very cool :D

I'd already heard about this bar before I got to Hvar, and it is a great place... good music, great atmosphere... It's all big cushions, sofa's, hammocks and mood lighting... But the place has one problem. There are no decent drinks...! Whatever you do DON'T HAVE A COCKTAIL. It's a real shame, because it's the perfect spot to drink cocktails, but they make them with flavoured syrups instead of fresh fruit, and they all taste like bubble-gum. They don't even have any nice beer or anything, so take my advice... Invest in a nice bottle of dark rum before you go and just order cokes...!

Don't waste your time, the most famous bar in Hvar Island is totally avoidable. Too expensive, too Crowdy an during afternoon's party too stinky because of hunreds of napolitans in sunglasses jumping over the few chicks in the bar. Carpe Diem people's 1st and unique worry it's fashion and image. 0% entertainment, 101% image. No way i'm coming back there.

Recommended at Carpe Diem are the Pina Colada and the Playboy 51, but they don't know how to make a Cosmopolitan. Prices average at 52 Kune but its well worth a visit. And whatever people say, its not a nightclub - its a bar!

Directions: On the waterfront, near all the disgustingly opulent yachts.

The place indeed to be seen and to watch - Carpe Diem is a little pretentious in my opinion. That only seems to make it more appealing to the hordes of Italians on holiday in summer :-)

My birthday sparkler

I only went to Carpe Diem one night but it was fantastic! The setting is so chill. They have great music and tons of fun people. After spending a few days in Hvar it seems as if you know everyone there and at night they all end up at Carpe Diem. We danced, made friends and I oogled over our incredibly good looking waiter! My favorite thing there is how they deliver fancy drinks (like bottles of champagne) with lit sparklers. It was classy and oh -so-much FUN!!

Nothing too fancy just out and about European summer night out clothes. Some people were more casual than others. I was decked out in a dress because it was my birthday but I never felt overdressed for a moment.

A small piece of Hollywood transplanted into the Croatian coast, and while that brings crowds, groovy beats, and girls, it also brings high prices and snobbery. My suggestion is to suck it up, shell out some cash, and live it up! How many times are you ever going to be in Hvar? P.S. drink heavily before-hand, it will loosen your grip on your wallet and your tongue.
