Hvar Town's harbor are is a great place to while away a few afternoon hours. You can eat gelato, drink beer, stare at the clear water, watch deeply tanned people walk back and forth, and look up at the Venetian fortress and consider possibly walking up to it at some point. Leave a Comment

The Venetian influence is evident in architecture of the stone buildings with their tiled roofs. It was an important shipping location for Venice. They add to the charm of the town.

Something that I found particularly interesting to do was to take a seat on the waterfront promenade with a beer and a pastry and watch all of the ships come into port. There is a harbor manager guy that comes and greets each ship, hooks it up to electric and fresh water machines, collects his fees, and then ties the boat up. There are a lot of foreign boats coming and going, and you'll see some really expensive yachts. Leave a Comment
