Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (7) This was our favourite restaurant in the town of Polis- it was a 2 minute stroll from our apartment and a 3 minute walk from Polis square! All the food we ate here was excellent- we sample the garlic prawns, humous , olives and dolmades as starters, and the kleftiko, stuffed chicken and 'Holy Father's secret Plate' as mains. We were never disappointed - the food is superbly cooked and presented. In particular the kleftiko was amazing; different to any we had had before; no feta, not cooked with anything else, just pefect, fall apart lamb. In addition the service is excellent , the atmosphere/ suuroundings authentic yet modern, and there is a good range of wines. Highly recommended.
Yes, more expensive than others, but only by about 5% I would say.
As above- the kleftiko is recommended- also the Holy Father's secret plate- a gorgeous chicken dish made with the local Kommandaria wine

We particularly like to seek out restaurants which offer local cooking- most places do world dishes so you can get non local food if you want it, but we always want to eat the authentic dishes. The best restaurants we found were Archontariki (see separate review), Finikas (the meze was great and the Afelia also very good), Moustakallis ( Amazing Stifado - service a bit disappointing but grin and bear it!), Arsinoe's Fish Tavern (4 courses free which was amazing, and great King and Sword Fish dishes), and Miki's tavern was also lovely- really good Tavas. There is also a great little place on the left hand side on the road to the beach - it's just after the Bougainvillea apartments, before the corner- can't recall the name though.
All restaurants offer a good selection of local cypriot wines and we were amazed how good they were (though we only drink red so can't comment on the whites!)
For some reason we avoided the Old Town restaurant , which is said to be the best- probably we were unfair but we wanted to give other, less well promoted places a chance to shine! Also we went to the huge Chix Chox restarant in the main square but the food did not really excellent sadly.
Overall though we were extremely happy with the food in Polis and it is excellent value with most 2 course meals for 2 with wine coming in at about 25 Cyprus Pounds

A definite must if you get the chance is a BBQ - great butchers (and cheap) next to the Bakers and opposite the football 'stadium' on the road out of Polis towards the Go Carting track.
Can plan ahead as well unlike Britain where it usually ends up raining.
Some nice restaurants in town but sometimes you can't beat a BBQ. Leave a Comment Theme: BakeryComparison: least expensive

Great selection of fresh seafood plus good wines at reasonable prices.
Better than any of the Latchi fish restaurants in my opinion.

Never eaten the snacks but a great place to sit, have a cold beer (cheap) plus nibbles and enjoy the view. Friendly owner, very relaxed and cheap bar.
