    Maybe I've missed the name sign, but as far as I know this book antiquarian shop doesn't have a name... Instead, it has a large selection of old books of all kinds. There's a whole shelf full of Estonian children's books from 50 years ago, other shelves are full of history books, political comments, biographies, you name it. Interestingly, one can also find old German books, dating back to the early 20th century when the town was still called Dorpat and German was a commonly spoken language... I enjoyed the atmosphere of this place very much even despite knowing Estonian.
    Btw, just next door (or next room, to be exact), there's a ethno handicraft shop. Be warned, that the smell of incense is everywhere. I became very very sleepy after some minutes...

  • At this big super market you can buy the food, snacks and beverages you need. They also sell alcohol.

    This is no tourist trap so the prices are very reasonable.

    Tartu has a brand new shopping mall with a big Kaubamaja department store in it. This is by the way a good place to park at winter, if you don't want your car to be freezing when you return.

    Anyway, the scandal is that this rather hiddious concrete slap is place just below the beautiful old art museum on what could have been a nice square or park, rather than put it somewhere in the suburbs, or at least make it look a little nice from the outside.

    Imported goods are not particular cheap, but food and services are cheap.
