Brunberg has been producing very traditional Finnish sweets and chocolate in Porvoo since 1871. I just love Brunberg's Kisses, which consist creamy soft foam in different flavours covered with a fine layer of chocolate (luckily Finnair sometimes serves them as dessert on the flights from Finnland). But no need to say that everything else also tastes delicious! Leave a Comment

One of the first places our tour guide told us about as we strolled the cobblestone streets of Porvoo was a candy shop named "Brunberg Oy." This clean and tidy little shop had all sorts of scrumptious-looking chocolate candy made right on the premises. We were followed by several others also who couldn't resist the little pyramids of dark chocolate and other confections. We chose two types of chocolate candy, one package weighted 1/4 pound (Riisisuklaa) and the other 1/2 pound (minttulast) and we got away for a little over 5 Euros for both. Between the 4 of us, the candy didn't last for very long.
If you would like to bring something back as a souvenir for yourself or for someone else which is a little out of the ordinary and especially tasty, ask for special packaging or a sealed container. Try some of the samples before you choose! Get there ahead of the tourist crowd as this is a popular place! Open Monday - Friday, 10am to 6 pm. Saturdays, 9am to 4pm. In summertime, the shop is also open from 12 noon to 4 pm. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Valikatu 4, PorvooPhone: 548-4235Website: %crwww.brunberg.fi

Porvoo is an old city and so there are also many antique shops around. Most are in the old city but they are surely no good barging here as most of the items you can find else where in the better prices. Leave a Comment Theme: AntiquesDirections: Old city

The old market is in the old city main square. Actually I think it is very disappointing, not really much to look for buying, but it is a great place to hang around and for people watching. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Old city

There are some fabulous arts and crafts shops located in Old Porvoo, one can spend hours browsing through the different array of Finnish crafts. Just take a stroll through the quaint cobble streets and almost every shop is filled with original arty and craft pieces.

Brunberg is a traditional chocolate and sweeties maker in Porvoo, established on 1871. Their factory store is located next to the main entrance to the Porvoo old town, and it is an excellent store to stock up for your journey back home. Most of the products are based on traditional recipes, and some of them are traditions themselves in Finland. Take, for example, Brunberg's kisses -- almost everyone in Finland have eaten them, either as a kid or when using a kid as an excuse to get one for themselves, too. I recommend trying out kisses, marmalade and liquorice. All of which will just melt in your mouth.
