I love Pecs!! Just look at this picture. (My pictures are in a square format so please click to enlarge) The tilework is colourful, and the gates have character. This is a cool town. Do not miss it.

This old village is 833 hectares in size with 329 residents and
105 houses with 30 hectares.
The village was founded in 1291 by German settlers and had the name of Cherkuth,

Szekesegyhaz - The Cathedral

The Cathedral of St Peter with for bell towers was built in neo-Romanesque style. It stands on Dom ter (Dom Square) surrounding with beautiful park , Episcopal Court, University buildings and schools.

With Zsolnay roof tiles. Zsolnay is one of the two famous ceramics manufacturers in Hungary -- the other being Herend. During the communist era Zsolnay made ceramic insulators of electric lines! Fortunately they are back in their original business.

Don't miss the battlefield at Mohacs.
In 1526 there was a battle between Hungarians and Turks. The Turks won ... they took a big part of Hungary.
