on August 12, 2007The Spaniard was built on the foundations of an old castle around 1650. First called the Castle Bar (name was changed in the 1960s), it has been a famous pub almost since then - becoming a home from home for many sailors and fishermen. It's new name is for Don Juan de Aguila, who rallied his fleet with the Irish in an unsuccessful attempt to defeat the British.
There is live music year round on weekends and daily during the summer.
