Qawra
  • Tip Rating:
  • Qawra (pronounced with a silent "q") extends southwards from Bugibba and links up to Salina Bay.

Qawra is popular among tourists and offers plenty of leisurely activities including restaurans, shops and a number of bars and nightclubs.

Although there is no beach in Qawra, many swim and bathe off the rocks, which provide ample space for sun bathing.

    Swim with the dolphins
  • Tip Rating:
  • One of the must things to do while in malta is going to see the dolphins at medittereana park. The park itself has not only got dolphin shows, but parrot and sea lion shows aswell. My one concern before i went was that in small countries like malta, these places are quite run down and the animals are in quite poor condition, but to my relief this place was in excellent condition and the animals well looked after. If you've got some money spare you have the oppotunity to swim with the dolphins aswell, but this is at a cost!! it works out about £75 per person but is well worth it.

Qawra watch tower was built in 1637 during the grandmastership of Fra Jean de Lascaris Castellar at the head of St. Paul's Bay (far on the right side of my picture).

The tower was included in the communication system created by the De Redin Watch Towers in 1657 and in 1715 a battery was built around the watch tower.

Qawra Tower is probably not as famous as other towers in the area due also to the fact that lately it was transformed and it is used today as restaurant and swimming pool.

The Empire is a modern cinema complex located on the main road to Plazza tal-Bajja, Bugibba's main square.

Opened from 11 am to 11 pm, the Empire is the first entertainment center of its kind in Malta and includes four cinema screening theatres, an elegant Cafeteria, fully stocked Bars and Sweet Shop.

    Bugibba
  • Tip Rating:
  • Only a rocky headland until a few years ago, Bugibba is today one of the most popular summer resorts located in the northern part of Malta Island.

Bugibba offers many accommodation possibilities and is ideal for sunbathing and enjoying the views across St. Paul's Bay.

Salt pans in Salina Bay -
    Qawra

Not really a tourist's attraction in the area, the salt pans in Salina Bay, at the entrace to the Qawra, are used for producing sea salt.

Malta's salt pans are a source of continued re-generation of salt deposits, a tradition that spans many centuries and it is still used today.

    Comino,Blue Grotto
  • Tip Rating:
  • Boat trips are available everywhere to Comino and the Blue Grotto so its worth shopping about, but once there it is very enjoyable,i would certainly shop about though as sometimes the people in the boats who take you out can make all the difference!the last thing you want is a miserable boatman! Also if you have children check how long you are going to be at comino as more than 2 hours during the summer season is to long as the 2 beaches get quite rammed with people!! My trip was with the Hornblower which was very enjoyable.

    Salina Bay
  • Tip Rating:
  • Salina Bay took its name from the salt pans cut in inner segment of this sea inlet.

Salina Bay was used for hundreds of years to produce sea salt.

The church's building is large and modern and seems a bit out of the place.

Located near Bugibba's main square, the church was unfortunately closed by the time of our visit.

    Walking around
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bugibba comes alive at night.

Clubs, bars, restaurants, shops... there are plenty of entertainment possibilities, but even a walk around the street can be also interesting.
