Valkenburg, including the surrounding attractions, is rather small and thus can easily be done on foot. This way you will also be able to watch everything up closely and as the centre is closed for all other kind of traffic ... park the car and start walking. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

While walking through Valkenburg, directions are quite easy to find as a touristic spot like this one, needs to get the people where they want to be. There are black signs everywhere showing you the way to the many atrtactions that Valkenburg offers it's visitors. Losing your way is sheer impossible. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Valkenburgs station is located about 10 walking minutes out from the centrum...it claims to be the oldest operating station in the Netherlands ...very cool exterior, but modern inside ...its about a 30 minute train ride to Maastricht ,which is one of the great cities in the whole Country...trains run regularly throughout the day ...seems it cost 5-6 Euros round trip per person ...in the other direction one ends up in Aachen and other points Deutsche... Around the city of Valkenburg you have to pay parking fees. Not only in the touristy centre but also in the areas around it. Notice this sign and you have to pay. On the meter it will state during which hours, and it most certainly include sundays! Parkingfees are not very high (compared with cities like Amsterdam) about 1,50 Euro an hour. Free parking is offered by some hotels for their guests. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Centrally laying in the appendix called South Limburg, Valkenburg is connected to the railway-network of The Netherlands. From Maastricht a little "boemel" brings you there in a few minutes. By car it also is easy to be reached and parking can be done in various places. Also in the high season a little tourist train connects the parking-lots with the centre. The other very common parkingmeter looks like this. You park in a numbered parkingspace, the number is in the pavement. Go to the machine and press the number of your parking space, pay with coins untill the right time is in the display. This machine will not issue a ticket. The police can see at thois meter you payed and for how long. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

There are several different parkingmeters in Valkenburg. The most used is this one. You can pay with coins or chipcard (a bankcard with chip facilities isued by dutch banks). Put in coins and you will see the time change. If you have the desired time in the display push the green button and a ticket will come out. Place this ticket behind your windshield, so police officers can see it. In the next tip you will see another common parkingmachine in Valkenburg. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

When you come from direction Maastricht on the A79, take the exit 3. Note that this exit does not exist on the highway from the other direction – in this case take exit 4. From exit 3, go direction Valkenburg. At the roundabout turn left and follow the street for a while. It will do a slight right hand bend and you'll reach another roundabout. If you look slightly right you may already see the castle on the hill. From the roundabout you walk in direction hill and turn right. Then follow the signs to the castle. At that roundabout there's a parking (Berkelplein) at the left. It's 1,50 € per hour. There are many car parks in Valkenburg and there are good signs to find them. They also contain information how much space is left at the parking. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home
