 | Leiden Sports Travel | Tips 1 - 3 of 3 | | Popular Sports Travel | Other Sports Travel Tips | All Tips (3) If you are in the mood for a nice game of Snooker or pool, this is the place for you. Since the term snooker and pool are used a bit loosely around Europe, I will try to explain which kind of tables they have: - 2 snooker tables (English-style, very large tables with 15 red balls and 7 different colours) - 6 Pool tables (smaller tables, with the 6 holes and 15 balls, 1-6 full colour, 7 black and 8-15 striped). You can play "straight pool" (with all 15 balls) or 8-ball, 9-ball, etc. The tables are well-maintained and the cloths are regularly changed. You will also always find decent cue sticks. Although there is also a small bar area, it is a very relaxed athmosphere and people come to play. The only problem is that it is not in the center, it will take you about 10-15 minutes walking. In any case it is worth it as it is the best place around. On the website you will find the rates and the opening hours. I wasn't really sure in which category to place this tip, but since the main (only) reason I go to this bar is to watch games, I included it it the "Sports" category. It is located towards the end of the main shopping street Harlemmerstraat at the intersection with Pelikanstraat and often shows important sporting events (mainly football and rugby) like the European/World Championships, Champions League, etc. On really important occasions there is even a giant screen on the terrace. Usually there is a friendly (but hectic) athmosphere on match days, so it can be quite interesting if you are on holidays and want to catch your favourite team/Country's game. I advise you to call ahead to ask what game they will be showing. I also found out that it is a WiFi hotspot, but I have never used it and am not sure how it works. It is also a regular bar/restaurant, but I have never had any meals there. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports WatchingAddress: Pelikaanstraat 64, LeidenPhone: 071 512 23 07
