If you happen to be in Braga in June, you may enjoy a week of celebrations in honour to Saint John ( Festas de São João). 24th June is the local holiday in Braga and the most important day of the feast.
The "cabeçudos" and "gigantones" (giant puppet heads worn by dancers) accompanied by the deafening beat of the drums welcomes the dawn visitors in the feasts.
I enjoyed the international meeting of Cabeçudos and Gigantones you can see some on my photo. :)

On 23th night Braga celebrates (like my hometown) São João party. It`s a party where people takes plastic hammer and specific plants such as "cidreira" (sorry, don`t know how it calls in english).
