  • Unfortunately, the long distance bus station is a bit inconveniently located along the southern part of Krasny Prospekt. Coming from the city the bus station is just after you go under the railway line to your left. We took the bus to Tomsk which takes 4 hours. Please note that you need to buy a separate baggage ticket for your big luggage.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Despite the common opinion that traveling to Siberia is unbelievably difficult because of the distance involved, the real situation is not at all as terrible as it may seem. First of all, there are several flights connecting Novosibirsk with Europe (Hannover and Frankfurt), approximate flying time of which is 6 hours. Then, there are good domestic connections from Moscow (about 4 hours). The scheduls are on the site: http://www.sibir.net/get_e.phtml
We have the Metro/Underground/Subway! The only in the Asiatic part of Russia! Clean and beautiful! it connects the city center. Basically, you will need only the Metro.

  • Novosibirsk is the center of the Syberian part of Russia and the city has a good transport connections. First of all, the fastest way, the city has the airport Tolmachevo, that is the base of Sibir' Russian Aircraft. The second is the railways where you can got trains to Moscow and, opposite, to Far East of Russia.

Novosibirsk has one tram line with unreliable, infrequent service. Then there are lots of marshrutkas (minibuses), trolleybuses and a metro. We only used marshrutkas.

We arrived in Novosibirsk by overnight train from Omsk. I have no experience in buying an onward ticket in this railway station as we left by bus.

  • Tip Rating:
  • The metro is a great way to travel around in n. it is in ecpensive, cost 5 rouble, and it takes from a to b. there are many busses and mini busses to, but all the main sights are in a walking distance from metro stations, so for strangers to this city this is a great way to travel

It cost us around 1000 rouble, one way in a coupe. this is from ekaterinburg. the prices for russians and forneighers are the same, do make sure you have the right window where you have to buy your ticket. ditance, was around 1500 km, in the train 20 hours.

    Taxi: Taxis can be hailed...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Taxi: Taxis can be hailed simply by waving your hand at oncoming traffic. Many 'taxis' are, in fact,
private citizens who make extra money ferrying people along. Be prepared to pay from 50, to 100,
rubles for a trip within the city and from 200 to 300 rubles for a trip between the city and Akademgorodok.
You will hardly come across the taxi driver who can speak English, so language barrier will be a problem.
when catching taxis try to follow these rules.
    don't get into a vehicle with any passenger in except for the case when he is a friend of yours ;
the shabbier is the car, the less price its driver will ask for his services,
make arrangements about the ride cost with the driver before you get in and pay only in rubles.

Another way of catching taxi is to order the car by phone
Some private companies offer taxi service. All you need is to dial their number and make your order. They provide fast, convenient transit from door to door.Call any hour any day to have one of their Taxi dispatched to your location .
