Popular Tourist Traps | Other Tourist Traps Tips | All Tips (1) Many car hire places offer excursions as well at half the cost of the hotels prices and they seem like fantastic deals... What they don't tell you is that you will spend the entire morning sat in a little room listening to someone trying to sell you a ridiculously over priced bed! You will THEN be taken to Marineland or wherever else you originally thought you were heading where you will be lucky to have 2 hours of the day left! It is shocking that they fail to tell people (especially people with excited young children like myself) that you will will be de-touring to a sweatbox to be lectured by a very pushy salesman - be wary and always book excursions with your hotel. They may be more pricey but you will get exactly what they advertise and your kids wont be heartbroken at missing the dolphins!
Car hire places are for hiring cars - don't buy anything else from them at all because you will not be given a refund of any kind, nor a sympathetic ear when you complain! Local businesses work very hard, very long hours to make their money and you have more chance of growing wings than you have of getting refund, so be wise with your money, or if you spot a tempting bargain ask LOADS of questions before you hand over your cash!
Public transport is very good in Majorca and there are lots of bus and rail links so if you feel confident enough, use them! It works out very cheap to use public transport and buy entry tickets when you arrive!
