  • This is a nice place to come in the Summer when it's warm and you can sit outside and watch the sea with a cold drink and a salad.

    The Italian Way: Talking Italian
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Great family run Italian restaurant in Bexhill - perfect for cappucinos and chats on a Saturday morning or pasta and pizza in the evening. The service is excellent and the waiters helpful and attentive!

Anything here is good especially the cappucino and seafood pasta!

Cafe Belge: Moules et Frites et Belgian Beer
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • When the bosses offer to take you out for dinner to a nice Belgian restaurant renowned for its Moules and Frites- you don't say no do you?? Cafe Belge offers the diner an amazing variety of mussels served in over 50 different ways. You are presented with a huge black cauldron full to overflowing with mussels and a bowl of chips and mayo.

To help wash down your seafood feast they also serve a whole host of the best of Belgian beers - there are so many I don't know where to start and not being a beer enthusiast anyway my recommendations don't count for much! Check the website for the full list of Belgian brewed Blond and dark beers. I had a dark one - a Westmalle - and even though I am not a big fan of beer it did compliment the food perfectly. The beer list also describes what type of food each one is suitable for - so even beer drinking novices need not make a duff choice!

Mussels!! Trappist beer , Warm Chocolate Pot :)

    Marrakesh: New Moroccan Restaurant
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This restaurant has now closed

A new restaurant opened up in town so I thought it was worth trying out.

It's a small place, Moroccan theme, decor and music - which grates a little after the first 10 minutes and one of those indoor ornamental water fountains that trickles a little too loudly for ease of conversation. In fact the waitress put us off from sitting near it for that very reason!

It was quite busy, probably because it's new, but the prices are a little too high in my opinion to be truly competetive with all the other restaurants in the area.

We had "seven vegetable cous cous" and "chicken in almonds and sultanas cous cous"- the vegetable cous cous was huge and extremely filling but a little too dry, just mixed veg, squash, carrots, courgettes, cabbage (I think), not sure about the others, on a pile of spicy cous cous! For pudding we shared a Vanilla icecream and pancake drizzled with chocolate sauce.

As this is a Moroccan restaurant NO alcohol is served, only a variety of fruit juices. Customers are allowed to bring their own bottles of wine or whatever but they must pay "corkage" at £3.50!!!

My original choice of king prawns in garlic sauce was "off the menu due to a wrong delivery" and also some of the fruit juices were unavailable.

Not the best dining experience I have ever had, but it made a change. The meal came to £22.50 for two. No wine, no starter and just the one dessert. A little too expensive for a sleepy sea side town on the south coast.

That's Amore: Don't Miss The Fresh Seafood?????
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • It used to be called The Continental but then changed management and became "That's Amore" and something was lost in translation - The food isn't as good but is more expensive. The staff, are authentic .... something or other... I'd like to say Italian but not really sure. Anyway we were sat outside for 15 minutes and eventually had to go inside to get someone to come out and take our order. I had a sea food salad for £7. It was ok. Took too long to arrive and when it did she realised she hadn't brought me any cutlery, so had to go back, then remembered we had also ordered drinks, so had to go back for these too.

Chocolate Fudge Cake. - it's already prepared so doesn't take them tooooo long to plonk it on a plate- but if you want your coffee at the same time, you might be out of luck. That came about 10 minutes after I had finished.

The Beach Cafe: AL fresco dining at the beach
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This little cafe situated strategically on the beach at the Ravenside end of town, is the only place to get anything to eat for a half mile or so. They sell all combination of English breakfast items (egg, beans, tomatoes, bacon, sausage toast etc etc) or things like Jacket potatoes with the usual fillings of baked beans, cheese, tuna, prawns. It is also possible to have pie and chips or just a sandwich. They have slices of cake, scones biscuits as well as icecream. I wanted mushrooms on toast when I visited, but they had none - (even though Tescos 24 hour supermarket is just round the corner!)

You will need to queue in the busier times of the summer period, and pay for your food as you order it. You will also have to give a table number so make sure you have that ready. The menu is also on the doors so those queuing can make their selection while they are waiting.

There is a cycle track directly outside the entrance to the cafe so do be careful when leaving as there may be a silent cyclist speeding past.

I had a prawn mayo sandwich for £2.50. No choice of white or brown bread, just white. It's very basic here, but I guess it is just a cafe.

To be honest, you might be better off going to Tescos and buying yourself something to eat on the beach. You will have more variety and probably a bit cheaper. Of course if you want something hot then the cafe is the better option.

Cafe Belge: Back to the Belge
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • A small chain of Belgian restaurant situated on the sea front in Bexhill specialising in moules (served 50 different ways!) and probably the best selection of Belgian beer this side of the Channel!

We had the wild boar and Belgian beer sausage, moules et frites, and sticky toffee pudding all washed down with De Koninck blond beer.

The service here is very very good, and it is a very popular restaurant, so you will need to book a table on busy weekends.

    The Moules are the best!

    Trattoria Italiana: Trattoria Italiana
  • Satisfaction:
  • Great food, fabulous ambiance and the wine went down easy! Take some friends and have a lovely evening! You will need to book first though cos they get really really busy. We had to wait about 15 mins for our table even after booking - and even after we had been seated at a table the waiter didn't think it was good enough for us so moved us again - we didn't mind - it was all in good humour!

The food was amazing with some vegetarian options - and the pudding - a redberry cheesecake was outstanding!!

    Tagliatelli with asparagus - delish!

Pinocchio's is a small quiet friendly restaurant serving Jamaican food with reggae music playing in the background. We popped in without needing to make a reservation and had our choice of tables.

I had the Fried Plantain for starters followed by salt fish and ackee with a large glass of Jamaican Pine :) They also serve Jerk Chicken, mutton curry, escoveitched fish and Jamaican style brown stew chicken... to name a few!

I've never tried Jamaican food before and it makes a nice change to try something different... and an evening with lovely friends is always fun !

Came to around £13 per person without puddings.
