Popular Shopping | Other Shopping Tips | All Tips (2) Twice a year the main shopping street in Bexhill is closed for the weekend to allow French market stall holders to sell their produce to the locals. There are also local crafts people who have small stalls selling cards and jewellery and other knick knacks.
The French stalls usually sell bread, fruit, veg, cheese, sausages, garlic, olives, crepes, wine and honey, as well as linen and clothing.
The honey and wine are very good.
There was also a stall selling all kinds of handmade soap, £2 a bar or three bars for £5. There was chocolate soap, lavender, rose, lemon, oatmeal...etc etc.. I bought honey.
The French produce is a little pricey - and as the stall holders are here for the whole weekend, bread made on a Friday before they leave France is not too fresh by Sunday lunch time. Leave a Comment

We visit my mum in Bexhill every may, and usually spend a lot of our time in Eastbourne due to
the variety of shops that Eastbourne has and bexhill has'nt, or rather never used to have, as for the last couple of visits we started shopping at funkybits4u in bexhill, and the stuff they haqve in there is mindblowing, it's fab hand crafted products and they are fair trade too!
Makes such a difference from the usual seaside gift shops. I urge anyone visiting east sussex, if you get a chance vsit this shop, you will be so glad you did.
Teak Root Chairs and benches, jewellery and very unusual furniture,lamps and mirrors.
I would spend a fortune but realistically you can get a great item from as little as 50p up to £300 for some of their one off items like a teak root table.
