 | Dover Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 32 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (32) The Smugglers is one of those places that you keep going back to as it is so good. The only trouble is it gets booked up quite a few weeks in advance. There is a nice restaurant in the conservatory part of the pub and you can also eat in the bar area. The owners are friendly and very hospitable. The head waiter is Spanish and has been there for many years. The portions are huge and I have NEVER finished one of the meals yet (although I keep trying!)
There is a mix of Mexican (Their fajitas are excellent) Pizzas which are big and lovely and also Balti cuisine. Difficult to say what is my favourite as all the meals I have had there have been good. This pub is in a village about 3 miles from Dover and is worth a visit especially if you are hungry. They have special nights like Mexican when they serve the most wonderful fajitas. they have steak nights serving 16oz steak and the trimmings. They aso do agood Sunday lunch. They also have an a la cart menu which has a wide range to choose from.
The Mexican nights have always been my favourite. Leave a Comment Theme: Pub/BreweryPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Canterbury Road LyddenDirections: Drive straight through the village and it is on the left at the far end of Canterbury Road

At last Dover has a new restaurant and it seems that it is going to be a hit with locals and tourists alike. It is run by 2 Italian brothers and the menu is a mix of fish and meat. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the service is very good. The place itself seats about 60 people on two floors.
The cod with a herb crust melted in the mouth. Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Cambridge Terrace DoverPhone: 01304 242888Directions: Just off the seafront near the town centre

This restaurant at the rear of a lovely pub is a favourite of mine. The service is good and the wine selection makes it a great choice for an evening out. It is slightly out of the town but if you have a car it only takes 10 minutes at the most to get there.
The lamb shank is excellent. Itfalls off the bone and melts in your mouth. Leave a Comment Theme: Pub/BreweryPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: London Road.Phone: 01304 822016Directions: Near Kearsney station at the far end of Dover.

This small friendly Italian restaurant is in the town centre and is excellent value for money. They specialise mostly in pasta dishes but also serve fish and meat dishes.

Excellent Italian restaurant in the centre of town. It is expensive for the area but it serves good home cooking with a good selection of wine.It is ideal for a special occasion. The owners have been here for many years and it is thoroughly reccomended. It is advisable to book especially at weekends.

Sorry pinched the title from VT but they do do fresh seafood and plenty of other dishes, and they do them well. I think this is the most perfectly situated drinking/eating place in Dover. Well worth trying Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Old docksDirections: Next door to De Bradleigh Wharf, and just behind the seafront, to one end of pleasue marina.

The feel of the place is cosy and they often have jazz evenings. The seafood can be pricey but is excellent. Ther service is good but can be slow in the summer. The seating area outside is lovely and you can watch the world go by enjoying a good glass of wine or beer etc. They now have space heater so you can enjoy being outside for longer. Despite recent bad press the restaurant has changed hands I can vouch for the excellent food and service that we had lsat night (13.05.06) (The jugs of Pimms are great too!) Bookings for the restaurant are recommended.

This is very much a disappointment, nice new building/hotel, comfortable lounge and dining area, excellent position right by the docks but sadly the food doesn't deliver. I have been there three times now because people keep saying it is good but I think they must be missing something. The menu is appealing with quite a wide choice, but the food does not live up to the anticipation, I have had cold food undercooked food and slow service. The staff are good but I think the food is all pre-frozen and whack it under the grill or microwave. It is not a good first impression for a visitor to Britain. On a plus side it is not too expensive, but I would recommend a trip to a different establishment for good food. Must get busy and add a few more tips to give some alternatives.
