On top of the white cliffs of Dover, stands Dover Castle. The site has been of major importance for thousands of years. The castle, has a maze of tunnels dug into the cliff and has seen almost continuous action from the iron age to the second world war.
Th castle is administered by English Heritage.
he castle boasts 2000 years of history.
Look out for renactment days in the castle which are great fun but can be noisy for young children.

What's left after the tunnel is built
  • Tip Rating:
  • Take a walk across Samphire Hoe.
It was named after the local plant that grows on the side of the cliffs and was created out of the leftover spoil from the construction of the Channel Tunnel. It stretches from Dover to Folkestone and is a lovely peaceful place to enjoy that Sunday afternoon walk.
It has been created with people and wildlife in mind.
