    It is a long drive just to get to the northern tip of Nova Scotia at North Sydney. We stayed there at a B&B before catching the Marine Atlantic ferry across to Port aux Basques in the morning. This is a 6 hour trip for about Can. $110 (car and 2 people) each way - comes with entertainment and walking on deck or sitting inside.
    The highway system in Newfoundland exceeded my expectations. It is a divided 4-lane highway all the way from Port aux Basques to the turn-off to Gros Morne. From there the highway all the way to St. Anthony's at the northern tip is all first class (2-lane).
