The hotel has eroded over the years through numerous ill advised improvement projects into a very old run down lodging facilities serving the unknowing traveling public. The hotel features 50 filthy and poorly furnished guest rooms with very small twin size beds. The hotel also offers a smelly and unattractive lobby area and a gift shop offering poor quality gift items for sale. The hotels claims twenty-four hours front desk service but there is never anyone there to assist guests.

The King Eider Inn provides the most pleasant, attractive and secure hotel facility available to visitors of Barrow, Alaska. Guests can expect a quiet, clean, smoke-free atmosphere along with interesting amenities and decor to insure a relaxing and comfortable stay. The hotel features a guest sauna, gift shop, vehicle rentals, spacious rooms with attractive pine log furniture and a wood mantled stone fireplace in the lobby. Complimentary coffee, tea and other hot beverages are available at the lobby coffee bar and in the mornings fresh muffins can be found there as well. The friendly, knowledgeable staff endeavors to enhance the stay of all visitors by providing walking maps, local restaurant menus and tour options. An Inupiat Heritage Center, exhibits and teaches about the culture. But there's no need to spend the night if your only interest is sightseeing. You can do it in a day and be back in Fairbanks or Anchorage in the evening. Leave a Comment

Barrow is outrageously expensive, and there is no escaping this fact. Yet the locals and the tourists alike must submit to this reality, as getting goods into Barrow is not like ordering the milk truck to deliver. Being unconnected to anything does have its drawbacks. Leave a Comment
