When you visit Wakulla Springs, you have to do the boat ride(s). There are two types, the jungle cruise and the glass-bottomed boats.

The jungle cruises are always operating, unless the weather is horrible. Cost is US$4.50 for adults and US$2.25 for children. You'll see all sorts of animals and plant life on your 45 minute cruise up the Wakulla River.

The glass-bottomed boats only run at special times. The weather and water conditions have to be just right. If you are fortunate enough to visit Wakulla on a day that the glass boats are running, do not miss it. You'll have the greatest opportunity of your life to view a functioning freshwater spring aquatic ecosystem. You simply will not believe how impressed you'll be when you reach the deep part of the springs. You'll be able to hear a pin drop on the boat, as a hush falls over you and your shipmates.

On both trips, the park rangers do an excellent job of informing and entertaining in a knowledgable and gentle southern style that I know you'll find pleasing.

    An amazing State park
If you only go to one State park in Florida this one has to be high up on the list especially if you want to see springs rather than beaches. It hosts one of the largestand deepest freshwater springs. It has supposed year round swimming (72F) (I have to say thats too chilly for me!!!) but its absolutely beautiful. You cantake guided boat rides and see lots of native animals such as the alligators, turtles and many birds. The river has been in many films. there are lovely nature trials too. We stayed in the lodge which was built in1937
