I highly recommend this museum's gift shop!!! Every time I'm in town I pick up something new.

The IMAX is located inside the city's Science Station Museum. Always affordable, and always featuring something great, this is a great way to pass a few hours of an afternoon.

This is a small, yet utterly beautiful grotto located on the Mount Mercy's College Campus.
Parking can be a slight chore if school is in session, but otherwise all will go well if you visit. Leave a Comment

Gotta love Brucemore!! A wonderful historic house museum on the Historic Register for the United States, this house is a location of which Iowa can be proud! Additionally there is a great Iowa welcome center on the land.
Brucemore offers tours, gifts, fresh flowers, extensive grounds and gardens, special jazz events, etc. Just about anything you could want from a great tourist stop.
The gift shop features a fresh flower section, as well as a great selection of garden/golf/travel items for sale all benefiting the house museum.
All the tours are about an hour with a very informative lecture about the familys that occupied Brucemore and the history of the land and surrounding city of Cedar Rapids.
Mansion tours are given Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.
The Visitor Center is open year round, Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. (February - December). The house is open for tours February through December and is closed on major holidays and Mondays. Viist the National Czech and Slovak museum, and Czech Village in general. Also visit the mother Mosque of the United States. Finally, go for a walk or bike ride on the miles of city nature trails.
Czech and Slovak museum gives the history of immigrants from that portion of Europe to the United States. Much of Cedar Rapid's cultural life comes from this heritage - there is still a summer program for children to learn the czech language.
The Mother mosque, founded by Lebanese immigrants, was the first permanent mosque in the United States. In many ways, although it is a small city, Cedar Rapids is the focal point for Muslim heritage. (It was the voting point for Syrian expatriates for the entire Midwest.) Leave a Comment

The Science station features hand on science exhibits for kids along with an IMAX movie theater. This downtown museum was renovated about 4 years ago and is a CR Landmark. It's definitely the place to go if visiting Cedar Rapids with kids. Leave a Comment

I love the bike trails in Cedar Rapids. They are very scenic, well maintained, and they take you all over town. Its really great to see parks like these, I hope the trend continues in Cedar Rapids and spreads to other towns.
