The Kilkenny

For the past 5 years Irish pubs have become really popular among porteños. There are around 6 in the area where The Kilkenny is.
So either for some snacks, drought or a good Guinnes (which always come with some salty popcorn) this is a good place to go. Good for meeting people and listening to music too. At the moment the 30% of the people who go there are tourists, this is because the exchange rate is really good for them , but also because this pub is located right in downtown, which is where most tourists hang out.
To get a table go at around 10 or 11 pm. After 12 you'll have to be standing. Don't forget to take your ID even if you're over 21!

Kilkenny. This place would be more fun if they showed South Park and Kenny dying. I really do not like this place. Have gone twice just to make sure although both were during my first trip here in March of 2005. Mike and I found a couple other places on the side block that were much better. Great service in those places.

But unfortunately Kilkenny is where all the guidebooks send you. So go here and check it out. You might like it better than I did. This place is all about tourists and pushing the product.

There isnt a dress code here that we could tell. Its a pub. I would have walked out faster if they had said there was one.

Given the fact that it is the most popular Irish Pub in downtown Buenos Aires, this pub is the place to meet fun people.

On weekdays, people go to the pub at 6 pm after leaving the close by offices.
You can go early and eat -theres Irish stew on the menu- or go after 11 pm just to have drinks and listen to a live band -which sometimes plays there.

They have Guinness and Baileys and of course beer of all kinds.
The music is great!

At this late hour -namely, after 11 pm- men are charged 10 pesos to get in and us, the lucky ladies, are not.

Warning, do not attempt to go to Kilkenny on St Patricks day cos you wont be able to get in, that day people gather together on Reconquista street to listen to live music and drink in the street since all the pubs are too crowded.

In buenos Aires you have a millon bars to go at night, they are really great!
You have diferent kind of places to go, you have Irland pubs, bars with live music (jazz, blues, bossa, rock, and others), and a lot more.
Also we have 2 casinos here.. I dont know if everybody likes them.. I DO! =)
Somethings is true! you cannot be bored in Buenos Aires...
If you dont like drinking and going to bars or Discos you have a thousand more options, like cinema, theatres, bowling, pools...
You should REALLY come here!

I attached a photo of an Ireland pub, it's open every day till +/- 6 am. I don't like that pub very much, it used to be a nice place when it opened, but now a days is too crowded and I don't like very much the people that goes there...

I prefer "John John" or "Druid In" that are less than 1 block from there.

Directions: In my opinion, the most nice areas of bars and restaurantes are the Palermo Soho, Palermo Hollywood, the Centre (Reconquista Street) and Las Cañitas.

the lost evening... after well over a bottle of Malbec with my new friends from United Airlines... we danced on the bars, I sang with the band (very badly I might add) and had as a souvenir of the evening not only a Tshirt signed by everyone there, but a good hangover. urgh.

Excellent Irish pub that rocks every night of the week! I spent an amazing Sunday night in there meeting all kinds of different people. Anyone who likes a drink must stop here.
