Two packages were offered for the plane rides, one costed $70 USD to fly 30 minutes, and the 45 minutes tour charged $85 USD. The planes only flied in the morning, so be sure to either arrive very early, or spent the previous night in Nazca. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

My bus journey from Lime to Nazca was canceled owing to the Demostration at Southern Peru in June 1st. So the Inka Wasi (Tour Agency) boss Mr. Michel offer me his company car and his private driver Mr. Antonio to drive me there. We start from Lime at June 2nd 00:00am mid-night. There is no better way to see the Nasca lines then through the window of a small aeroplane. You get to see the lines the way they were meant to be seen: through a bird's eye. The plane ride can be had by going to the local airport. Trust me, there is no way to miss it since every local knows were it is located :). The cost for a flight with Aero Condor Peru on a 4-passenger Cesna aeroplane to see the Nasca lines was $30 USD in 2001. It's more expensive if you arrange it on another city or through a tour. Tours offer the same aircraft. Leave a Comment

the lines of Nasca are on both sides of the Panamerica. When this street was constructed, they didn´t care about the lines and passed through one of the signs in the middle. You take a bus from e.g. Lima to Nasca and rent a taxi in Nasca to go back to the lines. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

There are plenty of buses that ply the roads of the coastal desert of Peru. Many of them stop and pick up people in Nasca. The bus fare is under $1 USD per hour travelled. Ideally, you could get there in the morning, see the Nasca lines, and then continue on your way with a night bus :). Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Not so much a mode of transport as a mode of better seeing the lines. There are several angencies and and ways of getting up in the air. I arrived late into Nazca (1am) and my hostel arranged for me to be on a plane that morning around 7am for very cheap (45soles). The flight lasted roughly 30-40 minutes and flew over the main figures. If you are easily airsick, however, be warned the plane moves about quite a bit, and you may be sick. While a few of the Nazca Lines can be seen from a viewing tower located adjacent to the Panamerican Highway, the very best way to see the lines is from a plane. There are several operators based in Nazca offering similar, although not always equal, services. Some operators do an excellent job of showing you as many of the lines as possible, while others skimp and show you only a few. Similarly, some operators will circle back and make several passes, banking on each side so that everyone gets a good look at each figure, while other operators will make just one quick pass. Try to get out early in the morning, because the afternoon haze decreases visibility. Note also that all the planes are small – typically six seaters – and the wind gusts, circling, and banking can make for a harrowing ride. If you are prone to motion sickness, things could get ugly.
