 | San Miguel de Tucumán Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 12 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (12) We went with our guidebook's recommendation when picking a place for dinner, which was maybe not the best plan given how many inaccuracies we've found within (Footprint Argentina 2006 in case you're wondering). And, perhaps not surprisingly, this turned out to be a poor choice. We've had very few bad meals in Argentina but this was definitely one. I ordered lomo with chips and veg. The lomo was adequate, but the veg was cold. It tasted like leftovers from someone else's meal:( Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 25 de Mayo y CordobaDirections: North of the main square

There are many dishes you can choose, but personally, I think the pasta is excellent. The restaurant has a nice ambience and big windows through which you can see lots of passers-by. The menu is not quite varied, but the food is excellent, specially the beef and the empanadas. Decoration is simple but elegant, with floor-to-ceiling windows through which you can enjoy the green areas of the park. Sunny, warm days are an excellent occasion to enjoy the tables outdoors. BBQ and "milanesas" (schnitzels) are great. The restaurant is very simple but good, and the prices are also low: a lunch/dinner for 3 people only costs around 30 pesos (US$ 10.-!!!) This restaurant has a very special ambience, it is like a mix between an old tavern of spain with a bit of "country air", once a month there are thematic nights, with special dishes related with the main theme. It is situated in the center of San Miguel a few metres of the comercial center. In thematic nigths i recommend to make a reservation.

The food is good but not varied and the service is very satisfactory. The most oustanding feature is the nice, simple ambience, and the music: opera and live music with a pianist. Reservation advised if you want to go after 10pm.
I've been there only once and I had meat wok (wok de carne) which was really good. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Maipu 418 DowntownPhone: 421-7291

There's not a big choice on the menu in El Portal, but what they do offer is very tasty and very good value. It was very busy when we visited at lunchhour, with most of the clients looking like locals to us. El Portal specialises in local dishes but we'd had our fill of empanadas, humitas and tamales, so we opted for milanesas. Probably about the 30th milanese we've had in the past 2 months but still delicious.
