Abidjan is a city of contrasts, hte city has two faces. At one hand there are the living districts, where the ordinary people live, like in Treichville. These areas have low and traditional buildings . And at the other hand you have Le Plateau. At Le plateau you can find skyscrapers and other high and modern buildings. Because I had to wait till the Musée National, where you can find wonderful art objects as statues, masks, pottery, bronze and ivory was closed during the lunch break, I visited in the meantime on my way to the museum this modern cathedral with its futurist shape. I entered the cathedral and was surprised. From the inside you have a great look at the the beautiful and colourfull windows, telling the stories of the bible. It was nice to see, that the people on the images have black faces. You have to go inside the cathedral to see the bright colours. When I had a closer look at the white building, I saw it was a minstery. I was very surprised, when I red the sign to see that this building was of the '' Minestère of la promotion de la femme", ministery of the promotion of the women. The St Paul Cathedral in Abidjan is a modern eye-catching cathedral. The cathedral is designed by an Italian architect and consecrated by the pope in 1985. Between the modern skyscrapers in the citycentre of Abidjan, you can also see buildings of another size and form. These white buildings with two storeys looked more like the buildings, I was used to see in the West-African towns. Leave a Comment

I was lucky enough to visit a village on one of the Lagoons, I was treated like a king and offered to sit with the village elders and share a meal, we had Fish and a type of semolina or grated dried Plantain??

If you are traveling on buisness and at the Intercontinental hotel this is the Conference?exhibition hall attached and more than likely where exhibitions and meetings will be held the hotel has every amenity you could want

Once you get out of the city the rugged countryside with its bright red clay soil is a sight to behold, the roads are very poor , dont atempt in the rainy season
