    Hermanus is known for it's whales, with a whale-crier and all but even without the whales Hermanus is a beautiful town with the best coastline I've ever seen. Not much of a beach. Just a few km away to Onrus and Kleinmond there are beaches if you really need one. But the views in Hermanus is just amazing. Don't miss it!!!!

  • Great for viewing the wales when they come in along this Western Cape coastline.( June to November). Also penguins, white sharks and seals can be seen in this beautiful stage.

    Hermanus started in - 1855
    Allengenski Complex built in - 1870
    Harbour wall was built in - 1904
    Crane was built in - 1915
    Gutting tables were built in - 1935
    Last boats in Old Harbour - about 1958

    The Old Harbour was proclaimed 'a Museum' in 1972

    Take a walk on the rocks (there is not much of a beach). There are nice paths along the sea. Take a walk through the town. Lots of nice shops, crafts, art, antiques etc. Tons of coffee shops and restaurants. I loved the look of this guest house.

    The whales are fascinating. There is a restaurant down on the rocks. You are very close to the sea. We could sit there for hours watching the whales.

    In this picture (it's very small, a little black spot ) there is a baby seal swimming with the whales.
