Popular Nightlife | Other Nightlife Tips | All Tips (27) 45 Special is a legendary rock bar, with so called alternative people. I'm not so sure about that, 'cause I use to visit there more than once in the month...but it's not that trendy bar with girls in hottest clothes and guys with a bottle of gel on their hair.
There are three floors and each of them have their own atmosphere. Basement is more hard one, in the middle you can just chat and on the upstairs there are more lighter sound.
There are Sunday jams on the basement every Sunday and they are quite popular. Even HIM made a suprise performance there once in the Sunday. Haven't seen that place so crowded ever...
Atmosphere is unique, this is an old jail I have heard. I'm not sure about that fact, but you can notice barred window.

There aren't many eloctronic music places in Oulu, but Sas try to keep their line. They have many happenings, such like Sweet party where are good DJ's playing good music. Not songs from the lists, just good and special dance music and I DON'T mean N'sync or that kind of musci att all.
This has been quite expensive bar, but nowadays it's cheaper, thanks for the Giggling Marlin. I have sometimes felt that the atmosphere is too 'horny', but if you aren't searching for *** buddy, so don't mind of their looks and way to act..

This might be very odd to many tourists. People are partying, even when it's -30, snowing and the sea breeze is freezing. And the oddest thing is thatpeople bike to bars, despite of the weather. Even in the darkest winter you see bike lines, hundreds of bikes, outside the bars and night clubs in downtown.
The bravest ones are from university campus, 6kilometers from there to town, despite of weather.. And then they stay onn line outside the mos popular bars waiting to get in. So if you go party here, dress as usual, but take a very warm coat with you. And a hat made of wool will be good one too. It's good to remember that put your trendiest clothes under, but warmest ones on :D
In many places you can dress like you want to. But some places are more trendy than the others. In pubs there no dresscode at all. Bar 45Special is very famous among young international students and there you can be in same clothes as you are at school or work. Bars like Giggling Marlin or Night are more stylish and people use to dress very trendy there. But it's up to you=) Leave a Comment Theme: Other

This is maybe called Bar Cafe but it is really more like a bar with a nice big terrace outside in the summer. It is just by the sea and the market square. This is now the hottest bar, with longest lines and highest prices. All the bar has its momenst and now it's time to celebrate GM. I agree, this bar is very well designed and there are seperated Suomi-Pop (Finnish pop songs) bar and the dance music area with good DJ's.
There in Suomi-Pop part you can dance on the tables and there are also sticks, so you don't have to be afraid to fall.

One of the best places in Oulu is definitly the disco '45 Special', which has three different dancefloors and mixed clientele. If you're lucky, there's a live-band playing - and mostly they are anyway great in Finland!

I was relieved to find out (on the Web) that the place still exists, obviously rocking in an unchanged tempo. I remember it as a lively, obviously popular place which favoured rock and similar rhythms to trendy ones. Very relaxed atmosphere, very friendly as approachable clientele. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

A pub with a catchy name and (again) pleasant atmosphere. I laughed a lot in there, which is a phenomenon rare enough in Finland... ;))) On the Net it describes itself as a reggae bar where you can dance salsa, too. Whatever, it was fun!
