 | Dundalk Restaurants | Tips 1 - 4 of 4 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (4) A converted town house facing the cathedral in Dundalk town centre. The food is of a very high standard, as is the service. It is a great dining experience with a wide range of freshly prepared gourmet food and a great wine list. The decor is modern yet cosy. Cube is open for lunch on weekdays and dinner every night except Sundays. The lunch is very good value with such main courses as deep fried cod fillet with chunky chips, wild boar bangers and mash or grilled monkfish. The typical price at lunch is from €9.95 to €14.95. Dinner is more expensive, maybe a little bit too expensive for Dundalk.

Run by an Italian proprietor, this restuarant captures the athmosphere of an authenic Italian trattoria from the colourful tableclothes to the Italian movie posters on the wall. The menu is strong on pizza and pasta, with a selection of meat, chicken and fish dishes as well. There's a Bring Your Own option for two diners although any more will have to buy of the wine list. Reasonably priced and family friendly. There are two sittings, at 6pm and 9pm. Booking recommended, especially at weekends. Closed Mondays. The food here is real comfort food. There is an early bird €15 menu served before 7pm. This includes a starter, a main course and a small desert taster. Typical starters would include thai fish cakes, smoked chicken tartlet with sun dried tomatoes or homemade carrott and butter bean soup. Main courses include grilled tuna steak, piri piri chicken and grilled rib eye steak. The restaurant is located in seatown in the town centre and displays local artists paintings. It is small so reservations would be advised
My favourite dish is the chicken breast in a wholegrain mustard and cream sauce with creamy mash potatoes and sugar snap peas. I also love the lamb meatballs. The Windsor comes highly recommended and, according to my straw poll amongst local friends, is the second best restaurant in Dundalk. I took visitors there early on a Friday evening. The restaurant is upstairs from the pub. Surprisingly, we were okay without a reservation but we did have to wait 10-15 minutes for a free table. That was no problem at all. When we were seated I found the service excellent, and was amazed to find a good menu and delicious food. Typical main courses cost between 10-15 euros so great value too.
I had the duck and it was superb!
