 | Sigulda Restaurants | Tips 1 - 6 of 6 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (6) We had lunch at Tris Draugi - my Latvian is ehm...pretty limited:o) but I think it means Three friends? Please correct me if I'm wrong:o) Anyway, Tris Draugi is another buffet-style bistro, in the centre of Sigulda. (A three-minute walk or so to the west of the bus station) Have your pick among heavy, meaty Latvian food - and pay by weight - it's all very cheap! In addition to the meat dishes you'll find roast potatoes, some salads, a few desserts and cakes... Again, not a great place for vegetarians... :o) According to my friends, the beef stroganoff was ok - but the food could definitely have been warmer. Not anticipating the long wait at the cable car, I hadn't though I would need food until we got to Turaida but since we had a way to go, I stopped at this little snack stand and got a hot dog and fries. A better idea, had I thought of it, would have been to stop at the Elvi grocery store which was not too far from the bus station (you will see it on the way in) and grabbed a picnic lunch. You'll find Kaku maja (Cat house) a short walk to the west of the bus station - it was a nice place to kill some time waiting for the next bus back to Riga... :o) The traditional, buffet style café serves filling Latvian food - grab a tray, have your pick of the hot dishes, and pay by weight. Lots of meaty dishes, chips, some salads, sandwiches and desserts. ( Not a great place for vegetarians... :o) There's an adjoining bakery, which has a large selection of cakes and pastries. The Cat House is also a hotel and a fancier restaurant (Melnais kakis) - haven't checked out those, though... :o) See their web site for more info. Leave a Comment

Not far from Sigulda, in Ragana you can enjoy delicious home-style cuisine, translating in English it means 'Witch kitchen'. In this cozy tavern, which has interesting interior, you can have different soups, salads and also meat dishes. All in all, firstly with eyes you'll want to take and eat everything.

Just on the other side of the road, there’s a café where you can grab some snacks and drinks. It is nothing special (the only special thing may be its 1970 soviet charme), but you’ll get the basic things to fill your stomach and kill your thirst. A small outside terrace is available to rest and enjoy what you have bought. On those cold Winter days there can be nothing better than the lovely Tçja, kafija restaurant. the name simply means tea, coffee, but inside there is a cosy atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and it feels like 'home'. I recommend the Kakao (hot Chocolate) and some local cepumi (cookies), but if you prefer they have various differnet types of teas and coffees.
